<br />-8- <br /> <br />19. Sec. 12.09, Interim municipal government, should be deleted in its <br />entirety since this provision is now obsolete. For historical <br />purposes, original and amended versions of the City Charter are <br />kept in the City's law library. <br /> <br />20. Sec. 5.07, Conducting and canvassing elections, should be <br />as follows: <br /> <br />amended <br /> <br />The returns of every municipal election shall be delivered by the <br />election judges to the city secretary not later than twelve (12) <br />hours after the closing of the polls. Returns of the elections, <br />general and special, shall be presented to the city council on ~~e <br />:E..i.J;.s..t. ..!<:1o.n..d.a.y.. ..:n..e..x..1;.. -fo.J..:L.o.w.i.ng.. ~id. ~1-e..G-t.ion. any d ate perm i t t e d by the <br />Texas Election Code at which time the council shall canvass and <br />declare the results of such election. <br /> <br />JUSTI FI CATION: <br /> <br />On occasion, having a specified date for canvassing election <br />results will create conflicts with holidays and will not always <br />satisfy state law requirements. This change will avoid both <br />problems. <br />
