<br /> <br /> <br /> <br />7 <br /> <br />ORDINANCE 1988-29 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING THAT ELECTION ORDINANCE CALLING <br />FOR A SPECIAL AND A JOINT GENERAL ELECTION BY SAID CITY <br />AND THE SAN MARCOS CONSOLIDATED INDEPENDENT SCHOOL <br />DISTRICT TO BE HELD IN THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS ON <br />MAY 7,1988, WHICH WAS APPROVED ON EMERGENCY BY THE <br />CITY COUNCIL AT ITS REGULAR MEETING ON FEBRUARY 8, <br />1988, AND WAS AMENDED ON EMERGENCY BY THE CITY COUNCIL <br />AT ITS MEETING OF FEBRUARY 10, 1988, TO CORRECT A <br />SIGNIFICANT TYPOGRAPHICAL ERROR IN PROPOSITION NO.4 <br />AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br /> <br />BE <br /> <br />IT <br /> <br />ORDAINED <br /> <br />BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> <br />SECTION 1. That Proposition No.4 of the election ordinance <br />calling for a special and a joint general election by said City and the <br />San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District to be held in the <br />City of San Marcos, Texas on May 7,1988, which was adopted by the City <br />Council at its regular meeting on February 8, 1988, and which was <br />amended on February 10, 1988 be corrected by changing the word <br />"corporation" in the phrase "public service corporation" to "company" <br />so that the phrase will read IIpublic service company." <br /> <br />SECTION 2. That a corrective version of said election ordinance <br />reflecting the amendments of February 10,1988 and this amendment be <br />prepared by the City Attorney and the City Secretary as the official <br />election ordinance of the City of San Marcos for presentation to the <br />Justice Department and for other necessary purposes. <br /> <br />SECTION 3. That the importance of this Ordinance creates an <br />emergency and an imperative public necessity so that the provisions of <br />the Charter requiring that ordinances shall be presented at three <br />separate meetings and that no ordinance shall become effective until <br />the expiration of ten (10) days following the date of its final passage <br />be suspended, and these provisions are hereby suspended, and this <br />Ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and effect from and <br />after its adoption and after its publication in a newspaper of general <br />circulation within the City as provided by the City Charter of the City <br />of San Marcos, Texas. <br /> <br />PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED thi <br /> <br /> <br />day of <br /> <br />March <br /> <br />,1988. <br /> <br />êt!t: ~) <br />;) Ilnû) 8} íJlh"'-D~J.J <br /> <br />Ja~ls K.
