<br /> <br /> <br /> <br />30 <br /> <br />ORDINANCE 1988-30 <br /> <br />Jl~1 nDf)p1ANCE OF TH E CI TY COUNCI L OF TH E CI TY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS, N1ENDING THAT ELECTION ORDINANCE CALLING <br />FOR A SPECIAL AND A JOINT GENERAL ELECTION BY SAID CITY <br />AND THE SAN MARCOS CONSOLIDATED INDEPENDENT SCHOOL <br />DISTRICT TO BE HELD IN THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS ON <br />MAY 7,1988, WHICH WAS APPROVED ON EMERGENCY BY THE <br />CITY COUNCIL AT ITS REGULAR MEETING ON FEBRUARY 8, <br />1988, AND WAS AMENDED ON EMERGENCY BY THE CITY COUNCIL <br />ON FEBRUARY 10,1988 AND MARCH 7, 1988, TO AMEND SECTION <br />9 TO CHANGE THE LOCATION OF THE POLLING PLACE FOR PRECINCTS <br />10 AND 13, TO AMEND SECTION 15 TO NAME TWO ADDITIONAL <br />CLERKS FOR ABSENTEE VOTING, TO PROVIDE THAT THE CITY <br />ATTORNEY AND CITY SECRETARY PREPARE A CORRECTED VERSION <br />OF SAID ORDINANCE REFLECTING THE AMENDMENTS MADE BY <br />ADOPTION OF THIS ORDINANCE, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br /> <br />BE <br /> <br />IT <br /> <br />ORDAINED <br /> <br />BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> <br />SECTION 1. That Section 9 of the election ordinance adopted <br />February 8, 1988 calling for a special and joint general election by <br />said City and the San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District <br />to be held on May 7, 1988, and which was amended on February 10, 1988 <br />and on March 7, 1988, be amended to change the location of the <br />polling place for precincts 10 and 13 to the San Marcos High School <br />Auditorium, 1/2 mile Seguin Highway. <br /> <br />SECTION 2. That Section 15 of the election ordinance referred to <br />in Section 1 hereinabove be amended to additionally appoint Sheri <br />Sanderson and Chris Tinnell as deputy clerks for absentee voting for <br />said City, and said deputy voting clerks shall serve without <br />compensation. <br /> <br />SECTION 3. That a corrected version of said election ordinance <br />reflecting the amendments made by the adoption of this ordinahce be <br />prepared by the City Attorney and the City Secretary as the official <br />election ordinance of the City of San Marcos for presentation to the <br />Justice Department and for other necessary purposes. <br /> <br />SECTION 4. That the importance of this Ordinance creates an <br />emergency and an imperative public necessity so that the provisions of <br />the Charter requiring that ordinances shall be presented at three <br />separate meetings and that no ordinance shall become effective until <br />the expiration of ten (10) days following the date of its final passage <br />be suspended, and these provisions are hereby suspended, and this <br />Ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and effect from and <br />after its adoption and after its publication in a newspaper of general <br />circulation within the City as provided by the City Charter of the City <br />of San Marcos, Texas. <br /> <br />PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED <br /> <br /> <br />day of <br /> <br />March <br /> <br />, 1988. <br /> <br />~. est: .--).
