Hutchison Street
San Marcos, Texas 78666

Dear Ms. Langenkamp:

I am writing to express my support of your efforts
to acquire funding for additional services for adult
education in San Marcos through the Library Services
and Construction Act, Title I Grant.

As a Director of the San Marcos Hispanic Chamber of
Commerce and a local businessman, I am fully aware
of the desperate need of education among the
Hispanic community. It is estimated that by the
year 2000, the present minority will be the
majority. This is a frightening statistic since it
will effect all of us. We need to expand the
services provided by the San Marcos Public Library,
specificalaly the GED classes.

More tutors are needed to help these members of our
community make this effort. The current services
are not sufficient to meet the urgent demand and
attention required to meet our duty and
responsibility of educating those that will make a
difference to our society. A mind is a terrible
thing to waste.

well in your endeavor.

.~-
arcia, Director

Pete Rodriguez

Economic Developmént: .
'-....- .

City Appliance

Business Development:

Frank Gonzales

SWTSU
