ORDINANCE NO. 2013-61 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS ESTABLISHING THE SAN MARCOS YOUTH COMMISSION; SETTING FORTH THE DUTIES OF THE COMMISSION; INCLUDING PROCEDURAL PROVISIONS; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: SECTION 1. Chapter 2 of the San Marcos City Code is hereby amended to add Sections 2.074 and 2.075, pertaining to the San Marcos Youth Commission and to read as follows: Sec. 2.074. San Marcos Youth Commission; established; composition; appointment of representatives. (a) The San Marcos Youth Commission is hereby established. The San Marcos Youth Commission shall have 15 voting representatives. The appointment of individuals nominated to serve as representatives shall be confirmed by the city council and the San Marcos Youth Commission shall be composed as follows: 1. San Marcos High School (4) 2. San Marcos Academy (1) 3. Private /Charter Schools (1) 4. Home Schooled (1) 5. Outside City Limits /Inside SMCISD Boundaries (1) 6. Texas State student /Post - Secondary student (1) 7. Gary Job Corp (l ) 8. Phoenix (1) 9. Other At -Large Youth Members (4) (b) The representatives shall each serve a term of 1 year. (c) The commission may also have additional self - selected general members who wish to take part in any committee or project. General members do not vote on matters of commission business. Sec. 2.075. Duties; meetings; reports. (a) The commission shall have the following duties and functions: 1. Represent the voices of youth in the community and advise elected officials and other policy makers about issues affecting and of interest to youth.
