ORDINANCE NO. 2013-61 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS ESTABLISHING THE SAN MARCOS YOUTH <br />COMMISSION; SETTING FORTH THE DUTIES OF THE <br />COMMISSION; INCLUDING PROCEDURAL PROVISIONS; AND <br />PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS: <br />SECTION 1. Chapter 2 of the San Marcos City Code is hereby amended to add Sections <br />2.074 and 2.075, pertaining to the San Marcos Youth Commission and to read as follows: <br />Sec. 2.074. San Marcos Youth Commission; established; composition; <br />appointment of representatives. <br />(a) The San Marcos Youth Commission is hereby established. The San Marcos Youth <br />Commission shall have 15 voting representatives. The appointment of individuals <br />nominated to serve as representatives shall be confirmed by the city council and the San <br />Marcos Youth Commission shall be composed as follows: <br />1. San Marcos High School (4) <br />2. San Marcos Academy (1) <br />3. Private /Charter Schools (1) <br />4. Home Schooled (1) <br />5. Outside City Limits /Inside SMCISD Boundaries (1) <br />6. Texas State student /Post - Secondary student (1) <br />7. Gary Job Corp (l ) <br />8. Phoenix (1) <br />9. Other At -Large Youth Members (4) <br />(b) The representatives shall each serve a term of 1 year. <br />(c) The commission may also have additional self - selected general members who wish to <br />take part in any committee or project. General members do not vote on matters of <br />commission business. <br />Sec. 2.075. Duties; meetings; reports. <br />(a) The commission shall have the following duties and functions: <br />1. Represent the voices of youth in the community and advise elected officials and <br />other policy makers about issues affecting and of interest to youth. <br />
