Younger City Council Members Sergeant Lisa Dvorak Crime Prevention Coordinator ,.~) ;/</ "-- ~ /'"i <::¿'J C " -c..- (...... /~"7 TO: ¡UBJECT: Dangerous Drug Control Unit Grant DATE: February 3, 1987 RE: Attached is a grant application to request assistance for funding a Dangerous Drug Control Unit for the San Marcos Police Depart- ment. The application has been submitted to the Capital Area Planning Council (CAPCO) for review and will be forwarded to the Governor's Office, Criminal Justice Division (CJD) when a resolution of support is given by the local government. In early spring, CJD will announce the funding available in each program category. Continuation grants, those who have pre- viously received program funding, are prioritized first. If there are any funds remaining, first year program applicants, such as ours, will compete with one another for funding. The submission of the grant application to CAPCO and CJD is no guarantee of fund- ing; however, it will give us the opportunity to compete for fund- ing. If our Unit receives funding, CJD will provide 100% of the person- nel costs, 50% of the equipment costs, and 40% of the confidential funds in the first year. In subsequent years, the CJD portion of the personnel costs will decrease 20% while the City's portion increases 20%. The 50% - 50% share on equipment and 60% - 40% share of confidential funds will remain the same. The project start date for the Unit is September, 1987. The justification for the Unit, personnel, equipment, supplies, and confidential funds is included in the application.
