<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />period of three years, staggered so that two members shall be elected to a regular <br />term each year. The council member elected to the place of mayor shall hold <br />office for a period of three years. <br /> <br />MEASURE NO.4 <br /> <br />SHALL SECTION 3.02(a)(2) OF THE CITY CHARTER, REGARDING <br />QUALIFICATIONS FOR COUNCIL MEMBERS, BE AMENDED TO READ AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />(a) Each member of the city council, in addition to having other qualifications <br />prescribed by law: <br /> <br />********** <br /> <br />(2) Shall have had his or her principal physical residence for at least one <br />year preceding the election within the corporate limits of San Marcos; or shall <br />have had his or her principal physical residence for a period of not less than one <br />year immediately preceding the person's election, in any territory not formerly <br />within the corporate limits of the city, but which is annexed under the provisions <br />of Section 2.03 of this Charter, and shall maintain his or her principal physical <br />residence within the corporate limits of San Marcos throughout his or her term of <br />office; for purposes of this subsection, a person must meet all of the following to <br />meet the requirement for a "principal physical residence" in the city: <br /> <br />(A) The person must use the residence address for voter registration <br />and driver's license purposes; <br /> <br />(B) The person must use the residence address as the person's home <br />address on documents such as employment records, resumes, business cards, <br />government forms and loan applications; and <br /> <br />(C) The person must not claim a homestead exemption on any <br />property other than the residence; <br /> <br />********** <br /> <br />MEASURE NO.5 <br /> <br />SHALL SECTION 3.04 OF THE CITY CHARTER, REGARDING COMPENSATION <br />FOR CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS, BE AMENDED TO READ AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Sec. 3.04. Compensation. <br /> <br />Members of the city council shall receive compensation in the amount of $100 for <br />each council meeting attended by them, with a maximum of three meetings per <br /> <br />Election 2006 - Final <br /> <br />3 <br />
