I I I period of three years, staggered so that two members shall be elected to a regular term each year. The council member elected to the place of mayor shall hold office for a period of three years. MEASURE NO.4 SHALL SECTION 3.02(a)(2) OF THE CITY CHARTER, REGARDING QUALIFICATIONS FOR COUNCIL MEMBERS, BE AMENDED TO READ AS FOLLOWS: (a) Each member of the city council, in addition to having other qualifications prescribed by law: ********** (2) Shall have had his or her principal physical residence for at least one year preceding the election within the corporate limits of San Marcos; or shall have had his or her principal physical residence for a period of not less than one year immediately preceding the person's election, in any territory not formerly within the corporate limits of the city, but which is annexed under the provisions of Section 2.03 of this Charter, and shall maintain his or her principal physical residence within the corporate limits of San Marcos throughout his or her term of office; for purposes of this subsection, a person must meet all of the following to meet the requirement for a "principal physical residence" in the city: (A) The person must use the residence address for voter registration and driver's license purposes; (B) The person must use the residence address as the person's home address on documents such as employment records, resumes, business cards, government forms and loan applications; and (C) The person must not claim a homestead exemption on any property other than the residence; ********** MEASURE NO.5 SHALL SECTION 3.04 OF THE CITY CHARTER, REGARDING COMPENSATION FOR CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS, BE AMENDED TO READ AS FOLLOWS: Sec. 3.04. Compensation. Members of the city council shall receive compensation in the amount of $100 for each council meeting attended by them, with a maximum of three meetings per Election 2006 - Final 3
