35 Special Meeting April 7,1986 Page 3 Mayor Younger then moved Item 9, the discussion of bricks at Dunbar Recreation Center, to this point in the meeting. Bob Herrera asked the Council what they wanted to do regarding the disposition of the bricks in the chimneys at Dunbar. As the only portion remaining of the historical building, the Staff wanted to know if the Council wanted to have the bricks saved to be used in the architectural de- sign of the new building or possibly sell the bricks individually to persons wanting a memento of the building, which was the first school for Negroes in the City of San Marcos, or if the Council want- ed the bricks to be torn down and removed with the debris of the fire. It was consensus of the Council to have the bricks retained and be used in the architectural design of the new building. Mayor Younger introduced for consideration adoption of a Resolution, the caption which was read as follows: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, APPROVING THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF A PROPOSED AGREID1ENT BETWEEN SAID CITY AND A CONTRACT- OR FOR SERVICES IN CONNECTION WITH THE DEMOLITION AND CLEAN-UP OF PART OF DUNBAR RECREATION CENTER IN SAID CITY; AUTHORIZING TEE MAYOR TO EXECUTE SAID AGREEMENT; AND DE- CLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. Mr. Guerra moved for adoption of the Resolution and Ms. Kissler second- ed the motion. Mr. Coddington moved to amend the Resolution to contract with Saucedo's Construction Company of San Marcos for the demolition and clean-up in the amount of $3,600.00 to exclude the removal of the chimney bricks and Mr. Guerra seconded the motion, which passed unani- mously. Bob Herrera stated Staff would remove the bricks rather than the contractor. Mr. Farr moved to amend the Resolution for the name of the Mayor to be changed to J. E. Younger and Ms. Kissler seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. The Council then voted unanimously for the adoption of the Resolution. Mr. Farr moved the Council adjourn into Executive Session pursuant to Article 6252-17, §§2(e), (f) and (g), V.A.C.S.. to discuss matters where the duties of the City Attorney to the City pursuant to the Code of Professional Responsibility of the State Bar of Texas clearly con- flicts with Article 6252-17; purchase and/or lease of real property; appointment and/or employment of a public officer or employee, re- spectively and Mr. Brown seconded the motion, which passed unanimously (6;18 p.m.). Ms. Kissler moved the Council reconvene at 8:00 p.m. and Mr. Guerra seconded the motion, which ~assed unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 8:01 p.m. on motion made by Mr. Brown and se- conded by Nr.
