Facilities at San Marcos Municipal Airport must be expanded
to provide adequate levels of service during the next two
decades.

2. The existing site is well suited for continued airport
develcpnent, but will require that approximately 37 acres of
additional land be acquired from Gary Job Corps Center.

3. The recent taxiway improvements permit the airport to
operate wi thin acceptable levels of taxi time and overall
taxiway efficiency.

4. 'nle existing airport lighting system has been augmented by
the additioo of a Medium Intensity Runway Lighting system on
Runway 12-30. However, the airport lighting system sOOuld
be expanded to serve more than one runway.

5. Additional hangars, tie downs, and parking areas will be
required in the sOOrt to intermediate term.

6. Improvements stnlld be made to attract compatible, aviation
related industrial development. that will generate revenues
for the airport..
