<br />1983 <br /> <br />Hogg Research Project, The University of Texas at Austin. Team of <br />two professors and several students to study effects of "sun-belt" <br />migration on local housing demand and supply. Specific tasks included <br />using IBM mainframe computer with SAS package to run various <br />regressions, comparisons, and analyses on 1970 and 1980 census data. <br /> <br />1979 to <br />1980 <br /> <br />City of Laingsburg, Michigan. Comprehensive planning <br />project studied problems and proposed solutions for downtown and <br />residential areas of this rural community. <br /> <br />1979 <br /> <br />City of Lansing Planning Department, Lansing, Michigan. Planning <br />Intern. Compiled data into population and housing profiles for new <br />Southwest Area Comprehensive Plan. Reviewed site plans for zoning <br />division. <br /> <br />PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT <br />Coauthored MUD PUDDLE (Municipal Utility District Planning & Urban <br />Development Deliberation & Lobbying Exercise), a simulation game of <br />the negotiation process involved in the proposal, review, and <br />creation of a MUD. Players of the game have included students and <br />professionals who called it educational, realistic, and <br />unpredictable. <br /> <br />Micro-computer skills. Experience with electronic spreadsheets <br />(Symphony, Lotus 1-2-3, VISICALC, SUPERCALC3), word processor <br />(Words tar , Benchmark, Super-Text), and data base management <br />(Symphony) Taught VISICALC for the University of Texas Informal <br />Classes and fellow planning students. <br /> <br />Other activities. Attended sessions on negotiation and Nominal Group <br />Technique. Began informal student committee to review curriculum and <br />recommend changes. Participated in drafting resolution and <br />recommendations for protection of central Texas aquifer. <br /> <br />PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIPS <br />Member, American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), since April 1986. <br />- Charter member, American Planning Association, since October 1978. <br />Texas Chapter American Planning Association, Central Texas Section, since <br />September 1982. <br />Community and Regional Planning Student Organization, The University of <br />Texas at Austin, September 1982 to August 1984. <br />Associated Undergraduates of Urban Planning, Michigan State University, <br />May 1978 to June 1980. <br /> <br />AWARDS <br />- APA Texas Chapter Student Project Award as coauthor of "MUD <br />PUDDLE" . <br />
