TERMINATION OF WATER SERVICE

As a last step in requiring compliance with the Industrial Waste
Ordinance, water service is terminated.

Procedure:

After a customer has been found to be in violation of the
Industrial Waste Ordinance, he is given a specified length of time to
bring his discharge into compliance. As a last step to insure
compliance with the Ordinance, water service is terminated. To
terminate water service, the customer must be notified in writing at
least twenty-four (24) hours prior to water service termination. An
order to terminate water service is written by the Director of
Environment and Engineering and a copy to the City Attorney. A copy
of the order is hand delivered to the customer. The order is written
so that the water service is not resumed until the violation has been
corrected in a permanent way. The burden of proof of compliance is
with the customer and he must present thie proof to the Director of
Environment and Engineering.

-60-
