AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AÞlENDING SECTION 2-43 OF DIVISION 2, ENTITLED "TEXAS MUNICIPAL RETIREMENT SYSTEM" OF ARTICLE III, ENTITLED "CIVIL SERVICE AND EMPLOYEE BENEFITS" OF CHAPTER 2 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF SAID CITY TO CHANGE THE DATE ON WHICH CALCULATIONS OF UPDATED SERVICE CREDITS ARE BASED, UNDER THE ACT GOVERNING THE TEXAS MUNICIPAL RETIREMENT SYSTEM, FOR SERVICE PERFORMED BY QUALIFYING MEMBERS OF SUCH SYSTEM IN THE EMPLOYMENT OF SAID CITY AND TO CHANGE THE DATE ON WHICH CALCULATIONS OF UPDATED SERVICE CREDITS ARE BASED UNDER SAID ACT FOR SERVICE PERFORMED BY QUALIFYING MEMBERS OF SUCH SYSTEM WHO HAVE UNFORFEITED CREDIT FOR PRIOR SERVICE AND/OR CURRENT SERVICE WITH OTHER PARTICIPATING MUNICIPALITIES BY REASON OF PREVIOUS SERVICE AND WHO WERE CONTRIBUTING MEMBERS ON JANUARY 1, 1986; AÞlENDING SECTION 2-44(b) OF SAID DIVISION OF SAID ARTICLE OF SAID CHAPTER OF SAID CODE TO CHANGE THE DATE ON WHICH CALCULATIONS OF THE INCREASE IN RETIREMENT ANNUITIES ARE BASED; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That Section 2-43 of Division 2 of Article III of the Code of Ordinances of the City of San Marcos, Texas, is hereby amended to change the date of January 1, 1986 in subsection (a) thereof to January 1, 1987, and January 1, 1985 in subsection (b) thereof to January 1, 1986. SECTION 2. That Section 2-44(b) of Division 2 of Article III of Chapter 2 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of San Marcos, Texas, is hereby amended to change the date of January 1, 1986 therein to January 1, 1987. SECTION 3. That this Ordinance shall be in effect ten (10) days from and after its passage, and it shall be published in a newspaper of general circulation in the area as required by the Charter of the City of San Marcos, Texas.
