Task 350. Determine Industrial Flows.
Using available information on industrial water .use, whether
municipal or wells, wastewater discharge, and product production,
existing industrial flows will be computed by subbasins. Using
prediction of water reuse, industrial pretreatmEnt requirements, etc.,
future industrial flows will be generated, by subbasin.
Task 360. Determine Peak/Maximum/Average Flow Ratios.
Based on WWTP records and general municipal experience, the
present peak to average and maximum day to average flow ratios will be
calculated.
For design purposes, future ratios will be predicted. For
sewer and pump station design, decrease in peaking factors with
increase in tributary area may be cons idered. Input from the
subsequent two tasks may necessitate recalculating these ratios before
detailed calculation on final alternatives are started.
Task 370. Evaluate If Infiltration/Inflow Is Excessive.
-
Based on available flow records, a desk-top evaluation of
whether infiltration/inflow is excessive will be made. ~f III is
found to be excessive, as defined by EPA regulations, a program for
isolating III and for shm.,ring cost-effectiveness of remedial
construction will be drawn up and presented to the City staff for
consideration of additional field work.
Task 380. Evaluate Flow Reduction.
---
Hethods of reducing water usage, and thus wastewater flows,
will be generally described and evalua ted. If it appears tha t a flow
reduction program is warran ted, additional work to describe in detail
the public information program, field visits, etc., will be presented
to the City staff for consideration. If the program is authorized,
flow reductions anticipated will be taken into account in Task 360.
Task 390. Define Design Period and Forecast Flows.
In conjunction with City staff, the design pe riods for
sewers and for treatment plants and pump stations will be defined.
Based on these design pe riods, design flows from each
subbasin will be developed, by decade, if appropriate.
21
