PART IV PROGRAM NARRATIVE, cont'd An estimated timetable for the expansion project is given below: April 1984 City of San Marcos voters approve the sale of $450,000 in bonds to expand the library. April 19, 1985 LSCA Title II preapplication is submitted to the State Library and the Capital Area Planning Council for review. June 1985 The State Libral'y recommends approval of the expansion project based on preapplication. Aug. 1, 1985 The final application is submitted to the State Library. Aug. 31, 1985 The State Library signs a contract with the City of San Marcos to expend grant funds. Sept. 15, 1985 The City engages the services of a library building consul- tant and appoints a library building committee to prepare a written building program and furniture/equipment specs. Nov. 15, 1985 The building program is completed and submitted to the State Libral-y for review. Jan. 15, 1986 The City engages the services of licensed architects and engineers to prepare the plans, specifications, site surveys, and soil investigations necessary for the project. May 15, 1986 Final working plans, specifications, etc., aloe completed and submitted to the State Library for approval. July 15, 1986 The expansion project is placed on the market fol- bids. Sept. 30, 1986 A construction contract is signed with the selected builde¡- and construction begins. June 30, 1987 Furniture/equipment specifications are released to the suppliers for bids. Aug. 15, 1987 A contract for the supply of furniture and equipment is signed with the selected supplier. Feb. 15, 1988 Construction on the building is completed, inspected and accepted by the City. March 15, 1988 Furnishings and equipment are received and installed. Aug. 31, 1988 All grant funds are expended by the City. Nov. 30, 1988 Final audit of grant funds is conducted by independent CPA and submitted to the State Library.
