~ASTEWATER SYST~M
The City of San Marcos currently owns and operates two wastewater treatment facilities with
a present combined permitted capacity of 3.85 MGD. The system consists of approximately 85
miles of collection lines with 42 lift stations. After treatment, wastewater is returned to
the San Marcos River.
The improvements being undertaken at this time will increase the system capacity to 6.25 ~D
and serve a projected population of 46,000 in the year 2000.
Storm water is collected in an entirely separate gravity feed ~torm sewer system and is com-
pletely segregated from the sanitary sewer system. The storm sewer system is operated and
maintained by the City's Department of Public Works.
Maintenance and inspection of the City's sewer system is accomplished by maintenance personnel
employed by the City's Water and Wastewater Department.
TOP TEN WATER AND SEWER CUSTOMERS
(Fiscal Year Ended 9-30-84)
% of
Gallons Amount 8i 11 ed Total
Customer Billed Water Sewer Tota 1 Revenue*
Southwest Texas State 235,831,801 $ 28,504.38 $132,000.74 $160,505. 12 6.03%
University
Gary Job Corporation 126,220,000 149,016.72 -0- 149,016.72 5.60%
Center
San Marcos Housing 44,435,000 45,331.86 26,355.17 71 \697.03 2.69%
Authority
Sha1amar Apartments 25,876,700 26,214.97 15,185.83 41,400.80 1.55%
San Marcos Consolidated
School District 21,783,000 18,096.74 17 ,331. 70 35,428.44 1.33%
Bordeaux Apartments 13,788,300 21,332.92 21,332.92 42,665.84 1.60%
Clear Springs Apartments 13,144,200 19,587.96 8,819.04 28,407.00 1.07%
San Marcos Place Apts. 11 ,416,900 18,737.60 13,737.60 37,475.20 1.41%
Treehause Apartments 10,068,500 12,640.90 12,242.78 24,883.58 .93%
Mc-N-R Apartments 9,605,000 16,498.49 16,147.31 32,645.80 1.23%
$624,125.53 23.44%
* Percentage figured from total revenue of water and sewer sales, which is $2,663.229.
Average Daily Sewage Flow
Average Daily Average Daily
Use In Use In
Year Gallons (OOO's} Year Ga 11 ons (000' s}
1973 1,670 ï9ì9 3,040
1974 1,780 1980 3,010
1975 3,100 1981 3,190
1976 2,962 1982 3,210
1977 3 ;380 1983 3,125
1978 3,780 1984 3,344
BILLING PROCEDURES
Watermeters are read during the first three weeks of each month.
