<br /> MAY 7-An organizational meeting to form a Junior Service League
<br /> will be held at 7 p.m. in the San Marcos Public Library, and all in-
<br /> terested women are invited to attend. The League, to be established
<br /> based on the guidelines of the Association of Junior Leagues, Inc., will
<br /> promote volunteerism and provide the community with an organized
<br /> group of volunteers.
<br /> MAY 8-The San Marcos La Leche League will have its monthly
<br /> meeting at 9: 30 a.m. at the City Park playground (in case of rain, in the
<br /> recreation building>. For more information, call 353-7337.
<br /> MAY 9-The Hays County A&M Mothers Club will have its annual
<br /> banquet at 7 p.m. at Pepper's at the Fans. For reservations, call Glen-

<br /> MAY 9- The American Legion and the Legion Auxiliary will meet at
<br /> 7:30p.m. in the Legion Han. Dr. M. O. Juel will talk on his recent trip to
<br /> China.
<br /> MAY 9-The City of San Marcos will hold a public hearing at 7: 30 p.m.
<br /> at Guadalupe Chapel, Roosevelt and Churchill Streets, for discussion of
<br /> community facilities improvements in the Victory Garden and Dunbar
<br /> areas. Funding for proposed improvements will be sought from the
<br /> Texas Department of Community Affairs on or before May 31. For

<br /> MAY 1O--The Cottage Kitchen menu will be beef stroganoff on
<br /> Chinese noodles, lemon-buttered broccoli, spiced apple rings, muffins,
<br /> and assorted desserts including cherry dump cake, pecan delight pie,
<br /> cheesecake, Texas sheet cake, and cherry cream pie. Hostesses
<br /> Juanita Bambrick and Hazel Hill will be assisted by Golfing Gourmets
<br /> Carolyn Barnes, Diane Kimmel, Inez Patton, Mary Kinsala, Katy
<br /> Lighthouse, Frances Mitchen, Nancy Kreczmer, Bunny Stevenson,
<br /> Rose Ayers, Robbie Waner, Gaynel Kirk, Eleanor Pitzer, and Bonnie
<br /> Ferguson.
<br /> MAY 16--The San Marcos Association of Retired Teachers (SMART)
<br /> will have a covered dish dinner at 6:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian
<br /> Church. All retiring faculty from SWTSU and the public schools are in-
<br /> vited to be guests.
<br /> MAY IO-The public is invited to a workshop at 7:30 p.m. at the Hill
<br /> Country Faith Ministries regarding ridding Hays County of por-
<br /> nography. Participants will learn about state laws which, if enforced,

<br /> MA Y ll-The Kiwanis Club will hold a garage sale starting at 8 a.m.
<br /> at the First Baptist Church parking lot. Those with items to donate are
<br /> asked to bring them to the First Baptist Church multi-purpose building
<br /> between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. on Friday. For more information call
