<br /> 22 <br /> RESOLUTION 1985-61R <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br /> CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING <br /> PARTICIPATION IN THE "MAIN STREET" <br /> PROGRAM; DESIGNATING THE CITY MANAGER AS <br /> COORDINATOR OF ALL MAIN STREET PROGRAM <br /> ACTIVITIES; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE <br /> DATE. <br />WHEREAS, the Texas Main Street Project of the Texas <br />Historical Commission has been created to assist small cities to <br />develop an effort to revitalize their "Main Street" areas; and <br />WHEREAS, up to five Texas cities will be selected to <br />participate in the project in 1986; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of San Marcos is clearly qualified to <br />receive the Main Street designation; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS: <br />PART 1. That the City of San Marcos is hereby authorized to <br />make application to participate in the 1986 "Main Street" program <br />with the specific goal of revitalizing the central business <br />district within the context of the preservation and rehabilitation <br />of its historic buildings. <br />PART 2. That the City of San Marcos hereby resolves to <br />budget a position for and to employ a Main Street Project Manager <br />for three years and provide the manager with travel funds for <br />training. <br />PART 3. 'rhat the City Manager, A.C. Gonzalez, be, and he is <br />hereby, designated to coordinate the program activities. <br />PAR'r 4.
