<br />22 <br /> <br /> <br />ORDINANCE 1985-96 <br /> <br />0' AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING <br />SECTION 2-31 OF THE SAN MARCOS CODE OF <br />ORDINANCES TO ADD A SERGEANT POSITION TO <br />THE SAN MARCOS POLICE DEPARTMENT, TO <br />REDUCE THE NUMBER OF FIREFIGHTER <br />POSITIONS TO SIX, TO ADD A CLASSIFICATION <br />TO THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ENTITLED <br />"DRIVER/ENGINEER" AND TO ADD NINE <br />POSITIONS WITHIN SAID CLASSIFICATION; AND <br />DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> <br />SECTION 1. That Chapter 2 of the San Marcos Code of <br />Ordinances shall be amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />Number of <br />Classification positions Authorized <br /> <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT <br /> <br />Police officer 23 <br />(including Trainees) <br />Corporal 11 <br />Police sergeant 6 <br />Police lieutenant 3 <br /> <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT <br /> <br />Firefighter 6 <br />(including Trainees) <br />Driver/Engineer 9 <br />Fire lieutenant 6 <br />Fire captain 3 <br /> <br />SECTION 2. That the importance of this Ordinance <br />creates an emergency and an imperative public necessity so <br />that the provisions of the Charter requiring that ordinances <br />shall be presented at three separate meetings and that no <br />ordinance shall become effective until the expiration of ten <br />(10) days following the date of its final passage be <br />suspended, and these provisions are hereby suspended, and <br />this Ordinance shall be effective and in full force and <br />effect as of October 1, 1985 and from and after its adoption <br />and after its publication in a newspaper of general <br />circulation in the area as required by the Charter of the <br />City of San Marcos, Texas. <br /> <br />PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this __lA.__- day of <br />OctobeL___' 19~_. <br /> <br /> <br />~ cP~--- <br /> <br />Emmie Craddock ~ <br />Ma yor ~ <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />?Jd Ø/~~ <br /> <br /> <br />Janis K.
