U) Veteran's Affairs Advisory Committee Matthew Maldonado, Eugene Hooper, Jason <br />Montgomery, Mason Murphy <br />V) Zoning Board of Adjustment: Mason Murphy, Kate McCarty <br />18.11old discussion regarding the composition of City Boards and Commissions, and <br />provide direction to Staff. <br />Following discussion the Council directed Staff to bring back amendments to the EDSM Board <br />to replace the CEO /Senior Manager for a financial institution with a CEO /Senior Manager for a <br />medium size company with 25 -99 employees and to require the Small Business Owner position <br />to be appointed in 2015 to be a resident. The Council also directed Staff to amend the CVB <br />Advisory Board composition by adding the Main Street Manager as an ex- officio non - voting <br />member. The Council also directed Staff to bring back suggestions of possible language to <br />consider regarding Section 2.069 Absences. <br />19.Receive a Staff update regarding the Alcohol ban in City Parks as required by Parks <br />Ordinance that went into effect January 1, 2012, and provide direction to Staff. <br />Rodney Cobb, Executive Director of Community Services, provided the Council with an update <br />on the alcohol ban in City Parks. <br />20.11old a discussion on the creation of a Safe Passing ordinance to protect cyclists and <br />pedestrians in San Marcos, and provide direction to staff. <br />Mayor Pro Tem Thomaides led the discussion and presented the Council with an example <br />ordinance from Bike Texas. Following discussion the Council directed Staff to draft an <br />outreach plan and to move forward with drafting an ordinance to bring back for Council's <br />consideration. <br />21.Question and Answer Session with Press and Public <br />Bridgette Phillips, 529 Harvey, asked the Council if they could override the Planning and Zoning <br />Commission in regards to SmartCode warrant requests. Mayor Guerrero replied and stated that <br />the Council cannot override this as the ordinance is currently written. <br />22.Adiournment <br />MOTION: Upon a motion made by Council Member Scott, and a second by Council Member <br />Becak, the City Council voted seven (7) for and none (0) opposed, to adjourn the regular meeting <br />of the San Marcos City Council at 8:58 p.m. The motion carried unanimously. <br />a )el uerrero ayor <br />ATTEST: <br />
