<br />SAN MARCOS CHAMBER OF COMMERCE <br />TOURIST DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL <br /> <br />MAJOR ACTIVITIES <br />(as of September 1, 1985) <br /> <br /> <br />* Sponsored one third of the cost of a one page, four color <br />advertisement in the Discover Texas Visitor Guide. <br /> <br />* Sponsored four color, one fourth page advertisements in Texas <br />Monthly and Southern Living. <br /> <br />* Financed the production of 6,000 convention lapel pins as <br />promotional items. <br /> <br />* Attended the annual convention of the Discover Texas Association. <br /> <br />* Sponsored a black and white one page advertisement in the Bobcat <br />Football Program for all home games. <br /> <br />* Participated in the 11th Annual Tours of Distinction - Heritage <br />Tour of Homes by publishing and distributing promotional brochures <br />for this event. <br /> <br />* Purchased and continued distribution of promotional litterbags <br />to tourists and visitors to encourage them to dispose of litter <br />properly. <br /> <br />* Special event funds were approved for Cinco De Mayo, Surnmerfest '85, <br />Texas Water Safari and Chilympiad to promote attendance to these <br />annual events. <br /> <br />* Participated in promotional activities of San Marcos in recruitment <br />of delegates to the Pan American Golf Association, National Winter <br />Meet held in March, 1985. The Chamber assisted in local arrangements <br />for the group including: lodging accommodations, banquet facilities <br />and registration. <br /> <br />* Participated in promotional activities in recruitment of delegates <br />to the Holiday Rambler State Convention. The Chamber conducted <br />several hosting activities for the convention group consisting of <br />400 trailer rigs and over 800 people. The Chamber also assisted in <br />local arrangements for the group including: lodging accoIT~odations, <br />banquet facilities and registration. <br /> <br />* The Tourist Development Council funded $15,000 to the Arts Advisory <br />Committee who approved seven (7) major grants for the promotion of <br />art events in the community. <br /> <br />* Conducted a Spring Promotional Broadcast/Media Campaign for San Marcos <br />in the following markets: Austin, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio. <br />Networks used in this promotion included: NBC, CBS, CNN, ESPN, M-TV, <br />and Cable TV. <br />
