<br /> -2- <br /> Ci t.y and other action of the City Council. The <br /> Commission shall meet not less than once a month. <br /> At all meetings the majority of the Commission <br /> shall constitute a quorum and the concurrence of <br /> a majority of those present shall be required for <br /> the determination of matters within its <br /> jurisdiction. <br /> Sec. 2-127. General powers and duties. <br /> The Commission For Women shall serve as an <br /> advisory body to the City Council and the City <br /> Manager concerning the needs and problems of <br /> women in the San Marcos area and to recommend <br /> programs designed to alleviate any inequities <br /> that may confront women in social, economic and <br /> vocational pursuits. The Commission shall <br /> develop goals and coordinate research, planning, <br /> programming, and action relating to <br /> opportunities, needs, problems, and contributions <br /> of women in San Marcos and shall: <br /> Act as the central clearinghouse and <br /> coordinating agency for activities and <br /> information relating to the status of women in <br /> the San Marcos community; <br /> Accumulate information concerning instances of <br /> actual discrimination in practice against women <br /> as well as discrimination in the law and refer <br /> that information to the appropriate agencies; <br /> Stimulate research in the area of women's legal <br /> rights; <br /> Educate the community on the status of women by <br /> publicizing in all appropriate ways information <br /> on their rights and obligations; <br /> Review the whole range of services available to <br /> women to enable them to make their full <br /> contribution through their homes, their job s , <br /> their participation in community life, and to <br /> take responsibility for strengthening existing <br /> services, and assisting in pursuing needed <br /> services, whether it be by commercial, <br /> coopera'tive, or voluntary agencies, or as a <br /> public service; <br /> Stimulate an awareness among both men and women <br /> in the public and private sector of women's full <br /> potential and of the importance of their <br /> contribution to the development of the community; <br /> Establish and maintain a human resource file of <br /> women's organizations and individual women. <br /> Sec. 2-128. Cooperation with citizens, <br /> agencies, etc. <br /> The Commission For Women shall at all times seek <br /> to promote close cooperation between the City and <br /> all private citizens, insti tut.ions and agencles <br /> interested In or conducting programs which aid <br /> women, to the end that all such activities within <br /> the City may be coordinated to secure the <br /> greatest public welfare. <br />
