Attachment #2
Terminal Area Plan
The Terminal Area is defined as the primary area on the airport
where such functions as fixed base operations, aircraft main-
tenance, transient aircraft parking, etc., are conducted. The
recommended area location and a schematic diagram of the Ter-
minal Area are shown on the Terminal Area Plan, Figure 4.3 and
is noted on the Land Use Plan, Figure 4.2. As was previously
discussed, the proposed terminal area evolved from considera-
tions involving airfield configurations, land use criteria and
airport requirements, and represents a balance between air side
and land side user convenience, operating efficiency and fac-
ility investment.
Figure 4.3 shows a proposed schematic plan to expand the ex-
isting terminal area to accomodate the immediate and long range
needs. The existing terminal area is shown in Figure 4.4 for
compar sion. This plan was developed to consider the maximum
utilization of existing facilities with a minimum disruption
of present operations. The plan will allow flexible expansion
to meed demands through the 1990's. Approximately 21 acres of
Gary Job Corps Center land is included in the ultimate develop-
ment.
4-16
