The mem- <br />bers will draw lots for their terms. Mayor Craddock moved to reap- <br />point Jane Sowell, reappoint Bill Coddington and appoint Jack Lind- <br />strom and Mr. Guerra seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Mayor Craddock introduced for consideration approval of three appoint- <br />ments to the Arts Subcommittee. Mayor Craddock moved to reappoint <br />Mrs. Frances Breihan, reappoint Shirley Austin and appoint Sylvia <br />Gomez and Bill Coddington seconded the motion. On roll call the follow- <br />ing vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: Brown, Coddington, Farr, Craddock, Kissler, Moore. <br /> <br />NAY: None. <br /> <br />ABSTAIN: None. <br /> <br />Mr. Guerra voted for approval of Mrs. Frances Breihan and Sylvia <br />Gomez only. <br /> <br />Mayor Craddock introduced for consideration approval of a request from <br />the Upper San Marcos Watershed Reclamation and Flood Control District <br />for $5,000.00. William A. Taylor, Administrator for the Watershed, <br />stated the Watershed had become the contracting local organization <br />for Site 2 of the Flood Control Project, and the cost involved to <br />handle the administrative and clerical duties would run $15,000.00 <br />annually. They are requesting $5,000.00 from the County and $5,000.00 <br />from the City to assist with these expenses and would be a one-time <br />reque s t 0 f funding. Mr. F arr moved approval to funè. $5, OeD. 00 tc the Upper San <br />Marcos Watershed Reclamation and Flood Control District as the Con- <br />tracting Local Organization for Site 2 (dam-Sink Springs) from contin- <br />gency funds and Mr. Coddington seconded the motion, which passed unani- <br />mously. <br /> <br />Mayor Craddock introduced for consideration approval of a request from <br />Southside Community Center for $5,000.00 to be used as maintenance <br />funds for the Emergency Shelter. Mary Compton advised the Council <br />the shelter in no way would be used for religious activities of any <br />nature. Ms. Compton stated 60% of the funds needed to construct the <br />shelter had been donated by local people. Ms. Compton stated there <br />would be a caretaker on the premises at all times, the South- <br />side Community Center Board would oversee the use of the building, <br />and there was no other shelter of this nature to house persons in <br />need in our city.
