6
Special Meeting March 4, 1985 Page 2
Mayor Craddock introduced a discussion with Stephen Jenkins regarding
an aerial photography mapping contract. Mr. Jenkins stated the City
is in need of a region-wide map because at present the survey crew is
having to survey piecemeal. He said a topo map would not do away with
all the ground surveying done by the City though. Mr. Guerra wa~
concerned with the Staff requesting the City proceed with obtaining
a topo map when the voters disapproved it in the April, 1984 election.
Mr. Gonzalez stated the street and drainage work could not proceed with-
out this type information, and that he understood the voters to not want
to pay for a topo map with bonds, not their disapproval of the City ob-
taining a topo map. Mr. Farr asked Mr. Gonzalez if the City obtained
a topo map what savings over what period of time would be realized.
Mr. Coddington added to that how many times would the Staff have to
verify the topo map. Mr. Gonzalez stated such a map would also cover
the two-mile ETJ. Mayor Craddock asked the Staff to prove the accuracy
of such a map and what cost savings and other advantages there would be
in having the topo map. The Council also asked for clarification in
the contractual agreement with the engineering company as to who would
own the map, would the City own the map outright and be able to resale
it to interested individuals, or would the engineering company own it
and be able to sell copies of the map. The Council asked for their
questions to be answered prior to giving approval to enter into such
a contract.
The meeting adjourned at 5:42 p.m. on motion made by Mr. Guerra and
seconded by Mr. Coddington. !L:- œ
Emmle 2
"' ¡ uI. ~ lMI'- Mayor ~ r
~
.. /~~
Karl W.
