AUSTIN
Mr. George Boeker
Public Works Director
City of San Marcos
630 E. Hopk ins
San Marcos, Texas 78666
Re: Letter Agreement
Proposal for Package
Treatment Plant
Engineering Services
OFF 34501
Dear George:
Attached per A.C.'s request please find two (2) copies of our
1 etter agreement for design and general representation services for an
interim package wastewater treatment plant. Since the plant's capacity is
yet to be determi ned and si nee the engi neeri ng cost for a package pl ant
will possibly be less than the engineering costs for a conventional plant
of the same capacity, we are proposing to perform this work on a cost times
multiplier basis with the total fee not-to-exceed the amount that woul d
have been determined using the percent of construction cost method of
payment. Using this concept, if the total construction cost were $500,000
the basic charge from Curve A would be 8.5% and the maximum total fee would
be:
.085 x $500,000 = $42,500
The maximum design fee would then be 85% of the total or $36,125, and the
maximum general representation fee would be 15% of the total or $6,375. If
a performance type specification is used for the equipment, we feel fi nal
plans and specifications can be submitted to the Texas Department of Health
within 90 to 120 days of authorization to proceed by the City.
If you have any questions on this matter, please let me know.
Sincerely,
FREESE ~ NICHOLS, INC.
;J~ z/£
A.
