<br /> 117 <br /> ORDINANCE 1984-104 <br /> AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br /> OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS AMENDING CHAPTER 2, <br /> ARTICLE VII, SECTION 2-125 OF THE CODE OF <br /> ORDINANCES OF SAID CITY TO PROVIDE A <br /> DEFINITION OF THE WORD "CITIZENS OF THE CITY <br /> OF SAN MARCOS"; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE <br /> DATE. <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> SECTION 1. That Chapter 2, Article VII, Section 2-125 <br />of the Code of Ordinances of the City of San Marcos, Texas is <br />hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> ARTICLE VII. <br /> COMMISSION FOR WOMEN <br /> Sec. 2-125. Composition; appointment of members. <br /> There is hereby established the Commission For <br /> Women. Such board shall be composed of fifteen <br /> (15) members appointed by the City Council, who <br /> are willing to pursue a positive course of action <br /> for achieving equal rights and responsibilities <br /> for all women and through their activities have <br /> demonstrated their commitment to this goal. Said <br /> members shall be appointed to two-year staggered <br /> terms with the terms of eight (8) of such board <br /> members expiring June 30 of odd-numbered years <br /> and the terms of seven (7) of such board members <br /> expiring June 30 of even-numbered years. The <br /> length of terms of the original board members <br /> shall be determined by the casting of lots and no <br /> member of the board shall have his or her term <br /> expire June 30, 1984. The members of the <br /> Commission shall at their first meeting, within <br /> thirty (30) days after their appointment, elect a <br /> chairperson and a vice-chairperson from their <br /> membership. After one year from the date of <br /> formation, all officers shall have as a <br /> requirement of office at least one year of <br /> service on the Commission. The Commission may <br /> elect, from its membership, such other officers <br /> and committees as it may, from time to time, <br /> determine necessary for the proper performance of <br /> its duties. As used herein, "citizens of the <br /> City of San Marcos" shall mean any persons who <br /> live within the city limits of the City of San <br /> Marcos; however, as many as three (3) members may <br /> be non-residents of the City of San Marcos. <br /> . .. <br /> SECTION 2.
