<br /> Part IV (continued) <br /> 3. APPROACH. <br /> a. Statement of tasks involved in producing the results or benefits <br /> expected. He will be <br /> The Juvenile Investigator will be chosen from within the ranks of the Department. supervised by the director of the Criminal Investigations Division. Upon the completion of the <br /> e~~cational requirements of his position, the investigattor may implement fully the expectations <br /> c his office. Primarily he will serve as an officer of rank and grade to oversee the processing <br /> c juvenile offenders through the department and to coordinate their disposition with the Juveni: <br /> Probation Department or other Youth or Human Service Organization. In communication with county <br /> juvenile personnel, the Investigator will determine policy guidelines for the disposition of <br /> juvenile offenders. He will be responsible for all juvenile investigations including child victiI <br /> cases such~ as child abuse and molestation. He will conduct post arrest investigations of local <br /> juvenile offenders. He will have some input into those investigations conducted by other <br /> personnel that indicate juvenile involement. He will use his expertise in the juvenile field to <br /> organize and initiate educational programs in area schools, youth and civic organizations. OVER: <br /> b. Accomplishments or goals. The indicators should conform to the performance <br /> indicators outlined in the appropriate program description in the <br /> Criminal Justice Plan. <br /> Initially the program is expected to improve departmental relations with the juvenile and parent <br /> public by better informing them about the police function and their influence in it. It 1:.¡ill <br /> provide much needed communication and cooperation between the City Police Department and county <br /> juvenile authorities. It will serve to better educate the line officer in juvenile laws and <br /> their application to his authority. The program will provide needed alternatives to referal. <br /> To provide the best services available within the co~Æunity for the particular juvenile or <br /> juveniles' family involved. It will provide a more personal contact between the Police and the <br /> enile offender. This will improve the officers ability to determine not just what is best for <br /> l individual juvenile but provide some insight of the problems causing the activity and proper <br /> é realistic solutions to it. The long term expectation of the program is to show a significant <br /> decrease in juvenile crime with the implementation of effective prevention measures. <br /> c. Data. See general instructions.
