OF SAID CITY TO ADOPT THE NATIONAL ELECTRIC'AL~ <br /> . CODE, 1981 EDITION, AND DECLARING Þ.N <br /> 9... <br /> EHERGENCY. <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> SECTION 1. That section 9-1.1 of the Code of Ordinances, <br /> City of San Marcos, Texas, is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> Sec. 9-1.1. National code adopted. <br /> There is hereby adopted by the City of San <br /> Marcos, Texas, for the purpose of establishing <br /> rules and regulations governing wiring and de- <br /> sign protection, wiring methods and materials, <br /> equipment for general use, special occupancies, <br /> special equipment, special conditions, and <br /> communication systems, that certain electrical <br /> code known as the "National Electrical Code," <br /> 1981 edition, thereof, now and as hereinafter <br /> amended, of which a copy of said code has been <br /> and is now filed in the office of the City <br /> Secretary of the City of San Marcos, the same <br /> is hereby adopted and incorporated as fully as <br /> if set out in full length herein, and from the <br /> date on which this section shall take effect, <br /> the provisions thereof shall be controlling in <br /> the aforementioned specifications, materials, <br /> and methods within the corporate limits of the <br /> City of San Marcos, Texas, and its extraterritorial <br /> jurisdiction, subject to the laws of the State <br /> of Texas. <br /> SECTION 2. That the importance of this Ordinance creates <br /> an emergency and an imperative purpose necessary that the <br /> provisions of the charter requiring that ordinances shall be <br /> read at three separate meetings and that no ordinance shall <br /> become effective until the expiration of ten (10) days following <br /> the date of its final passage be suspended, and these provisions <br /> are hereby suspended, and this Ordinance shall take effect and <br /> be in full force and effect from and after its adoption and <br /> and publication in,g newspaper of general circulation within <br /> the City. <br /> PASSED.
