Use of Herbicides-- If Contractor elects to use <br /> herbicides for trim work specified herein, Contractor <br /> shall furnish the City a written list of any and all <br /> herbicides Contractor plans to use. This shall be <br /> provided In the bid information and made a part of <br /> this contract award. City shall have authority to <br /> veto use of any herbicides City feels may cause damage <br /> to the environment. All herbicides will be applied by <br /> licensed applicator only. <br /> C. Edging Sidewalks and Other Paved Areas-- All <br /> sidewalk-turf edges shall be edged either with <br /> herbicides or machinery, to insure a clean appearance <br /> and shall be maintained level with the height of the <br /> surrounding turf. This standard will also include all <br /> flush-paved areas such as drives, walkways, and any <br /> other concreted areas. <br /> D. Edging Headstones-- All headstone areas are to be <br /> trimmed either with herbicides or machinery to <br /> maintain the height of the surrounding turf. <br /> E. Other Edging-- All other turf edges such as those at <br /> shrub beds, flower beds, around "in-lawn" trees, curb <br /> sides, etc., shall be edged either with herbicides or <br /> machinery as necessary to maintain the required clean <br /> appearance, even with the fine cut height. <br /> F. Irrigation-- All turf areas except in the Old Original <br /> and Dixon Additions shall be watered as needed to <br /> maintain a uniform growth pattern. Water shall be <br /> applied so that the grass retains a normal green <br /> color. Where possible (over major areas) soil surface <br /> in turf areas shall be permitted to dry out between <br /> waterings. Care must be taken not to overwater or <br /> "waterlog" any area. Trees and other plants shall be <br /> protected from overwatering and run-off drowning. No <br /> irrigation will be required where water pressure drops <br /> below forty (40) psi or where more than one hundred <br /> fifty (150) feet of hose are required. <br /> VII 1. <br /> TURF CARE - ROUGH CUT <br /> This work shall include all materials, equipment, supplies <br /> and services necessary to maintain in a safe condition all <br /> fringe or rough areas, approximately twelýè(12t acres all rough <br /> areas are to be mowed at a height of five (5) inches and not <br /> allowed to exceed eight (8) inches between mowings. Fences are <br /> to be kept free of trees and brush as needed to prevent damages <br /> to the fences and provide reasonable fire safety. <br />
