<br /> WASTEWATER SYSTEM
<br /> The City of San Marcos currently owns and operates two wastewater ~re~t~ent facilities with
<br /> a present combined permitted capacity of 3.85 MGD, The system consists of approximately
<br /> 85 miles of collection lines with 42 lift stations, After treatment, wastewater is returned
<br /> to the San Marcos River.
<br /> Storr:.vðter is collected in an entirely separate gravity feed storm sel'ier system and is com-
<br /> pletely segregated from the sanitary sewer system. The storm sewer system is operated and
<br /> maintained by the City's Department of Public Works.
<br /> Maintenance and inspection of the City's sewer system is accomplished by maintenance personnel
<br /> employed by the City's Water and Wastewater Department.

<br /> Future Sewer Improvements ... Out of the proceeds of these certificates, a 500,000 gallon
<br /> per day increase in the treatment capacity will be accomplished along with minor repairs
<br /> an exl.F:'1sionc of the: existing sewer system. The April 1984 elections will provide for
<br /> construction of a consolidated 6.25 MGD Contact Stabilization treatment facility and for
<br /> more extensions and repairs of sewer collection lines.
<br /> BILLING PROCEDURE
<br /> Water meters are read during the first three weeks of each month. Bills are mailed on the
<br /> last work day of the month. Payment is due by the tenth of the month. Unpaid balances after
<br /> the tenth are assessed a 10% penalty charge.
