<br /> 133 <br /> ORDINANCE 1983-82 <br /> M~ ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br /> OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING ARTICLE 1. <br /> ENTITLED "IN GENERAL" OF CHAPTER 16 ENTITLED <br /> "MISCELLANEOUS OFFENSES lLN"D PROVISIONS" OF THE <br /> CODE OF ORDINANCES OF SAID CITY TO ADD A <br /> SECTION TO BE NUMBERED 16-12, PROHIBITING <br /> PERSONS FROM JUMPING OR DIVING INTO THE SAN <br /> MARCOS RIVER FROM BRIDGES CROSSING SAID RIVER <br /> WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF <br /> SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE <br /> DATE. <br /> WHEREAS, after completing a study of present problems <br /> caused by persons jumping and diving from bridges crossing <br /> the San Marcos River into said River within the corporate <br /> limits of the city of San Marcos, Texas, Myron L. Galchutt, <br /> Chief of Police for said City, has recommended that persons <br /> be prohibited from jumping or diving into said River from <br /> bridges crossing said River within the corporate limits of <br /> said City; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of said City has examined such <br /> recommendation and finds the same to be a reasonable one; <br /> and, <br /> WHEREAS, it is in the interest of the public health, <br /> welfare and safety that persons be prohibited from jumping or <br /> diving into the San Marcos River from bridges crossing said <br /> River within the corporate limits of said City; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br /> MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> SECTION 1. That Chapter 16 of the Code of Ordinances, <br /> City of San Marcos, Texas, is hereby amended to add a <br /> section, to be numbered 16-12, which said section shall read <br /> as follows: <br /> Sec. 16-12. Jumping and diving into San Marcos <br /> River from bridges prohibited. <br /> It shall be unlawful for any person to jump or <br /> dive into the San Marcos River from bridges <br /> crosslng said River within the corporate limits <br /> of the City of San Marcos, Texas. <br /> SECTION 2.
