(a) One shade tree shall be provided per 30 feet of street frontage and must be located within 10 feet <br />of the outside edge of the sidewalk. Where existing utilities prevent installation, alternative tree <br />selection must be approved by the Development Services Director in consultation with the utility <br />provider. Small ornamental trees such as Crape Myrtles will not be considered to satisfy this section. <br />(2) Specimen Trees <br />(a) When there are existing Specimen Trees (24 caliper inch or greater) development should be planned <br />around, and not disturb such trees. A consultation with staff is required prior to an application that <br />would result in the removal of such trees. <br />(3) Parking Area Trees <br />(a) Landscaping used to meet the requirements of 6.1.1.4 (e) shall include a tree. Small ornamental <br />trees such as Crape Myrtles will not be considered to satisfy this section. <br />(b) Reduced tree requirements for covered parking may be approved by the Director if they are <br />determined to have met the intent of this section. <br />Small Ornamental Tree: inappropriate Shade trees planted less than 30 feet apart along the street frontage: <br />oppropriol.c <br />m) Refuse and Recycling Dumpsters —The intent is to provide convenient access to dumpsters for residents to <br />reduce littering and outside storage of trash. <br />i) Equal Amenities — Equal amenities shall be provided for trash and recycling. <br />ii) Location —All multifamily developments shall provide both trash and recycling dumpsters located next to <br />each other. Both shall be located within 500 feet of the entrance to each ground floor unit measured from <br />the front entrance of the unit and along improved pedestrian paths. The Director may allow alternate <br />facilities, such as chutes, provided that the request is determined to have met the intent of this Section. <br />iii) Screening — Screening shall be designed to reduce the escape of trash and in accordance with Section <br />6.1.2.4(a)(2). Material and design shall be consistent with the primary building. <br />iv) Signage— Dumpsters and recycle bins shall each be clearly marked <br />H., <br />
