107
Southwest Texas State University
San Marcos. Texas 78666-4615 AC512 245-2676
Executive Vice President
April 10, 1989
Mayor Kathy M. Morris
Members of the San Marcos City Council
630 East Hopkins
San Marcos, TX 78666
Dear Mayor Morris and Council Members:
As an active member of the Greater San Marcos Economic Develop-
ment Council, Southwest Texas State university supports efforts
to enhance the economic development of the region and to provide
much-needed jobs for local citizens.
The university has and will continue to participate in
appropriate ways to offer technical and research assistance both
to GSMEDC and its client-applicants.
If the opportunity should arise, SWT would be eager to
participate in job training and startup activities for any
relocation or expansion project, as it has in the past with Dana
Manufacturing, Butler Buildings, Kroger and others. This kind of
project strengthens our relationship with the community and local
citizens. It fits admirably within the role and scope of South-
west Texas State University.
We join you in welcoming the application of CTEC. As the company
undergoes the public approval pro~ess, SWT stands ready to offer
its assistance. It is a great pleasure to see local partnerships
create local opportunities, and to be a part of that process.
I personally commend the efforts of the community and the Council
to preserve and extend the quality of life for which San Marcos
is famous by encouraging desirable growth.
~ pjIJt
Michael L. Abbott
MLA: lw
