<br />33 <br />Regular Meeting June 12, 1989 Page 4 <br />Mr. Caruso also advised the Council the City is discussing an <br />arrangement with the School District for the monthly use of <br />diesel (500 gallons) and regular gasoline (1500 gallons). The <br />Council directed Staff continue to try to work out an interlocal <br />agreement for fue I. <br />Mayor Morris introduced a discussion regarding the Lions Club's <br />proposal at City Park and direction to Staff. B. J. Hageman <br />advised the Council the Lions Club wanted to build an expansion <br />for storage of more tubes and enter intò a lease with the City <br />for the period of time still remaining on their existing lease <br />for the additional space, and then to have a referendum election <br />which would include the additional space on the ballot in May, <br />1990. Their proposed improvements would include the women's <br />restrooms. The Council directed Staff and the Lions Club work <br />out an agreement and present it at the next Council Meeting. Don <br />Anders advised the Council when the storage space is not being <br />used by the Lions, the area could be used for meetings. <br />Mayor Morris introduced for consideration an addendum, approval <br />of the City Manager's appointment of a Director of Planning. Mr. <br />Gilley requested the Council table this matter to a future <br />meeting, hopefully the June 26 meeting. Mr. Guerra moved to <br />table this matter and Mr. Hernandez seconded the motion, which <br />passed unanimously. <br />Mr. Guerra moved the Council adjourn into Executive Session <br />pursuant to Article 6252-17, Sections 2 (e), (f) and (g), <br />V.A.C.S., to discuss pending litigation (MacKenzie vs. City) and <br />matters where the duties of the City Attorney to the City <br />pursuant to the Code of Professional Responsibility of the State <br />Bar of Texas clearly conflicts with Article 6252-17; lease of <br />real property (proposed lease for Youth Shelter); appointment, <br />employment and duties of a public officer or employee, <br />respectively, and Mr. Hernandez seconded the motion, which passed <br />unanimously (9:05 p.m.). <br />~lr. Hernandez moved the Council reconvene at 10:53 p.m. and Mr. <br />Moore seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br />~layor Morris introduced for consideration approval of the <br />appointment of an Acting City Attorney and appropriate action to <br />be taken.
