Regular Meeting April 3, 2007 Page 2 <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced for consideration adoption or direction to Staff <br />on matters discussed in Executive Session. Mr. O'Leary stated the Council <br />received an update and provided direction regarding development proposals <br />in the Hunter Road area. He stated the Council will take out the remaining <br />item at the end of the meeting. <br />Mayor Narvaiz led the Pledge of Allegiance. <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced the Citizen Comment Period. No one signed up to <br />speak during this time. <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced Staff Report. Mr. O'Leary stated he did not have a <br />Staff Report. <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced City Council Report. 1) Mr. Thomaides thanked the <br />volunteers of Bobcat Build for all their hard work. He thanked Kim <br />Porterfield and several members of Lambda Theta Phi Latin Fraternity; <br />Mario Cordova, Daniel Contreras, Abraham Moreno, Gerald Gagnon, Albert <br />Arevalo and Edward Caballero. 2) Ms. Couch also thanked everyone who <br />helped with the Bobcat Build Project. 3) Mr. Bose stated he and Mayor <br />Narvaiz threw out the first pitches for Opening Day of the San Marcos Pony <br />League. 4) Mr. Bose stated he attended the Community Relation Council Event <br />at Gary Job Corps. He stated there were four scholarships provided. 5) <br />Mr. Bose stated he attended the United Way Appreciation Luncheon on March <br />29, 2007. 6) Mr. Bose thanked all the Bobcat Build volunteers. He stated <br />in his neighborhood Commissioner Will Conley, former Council Member Bill <br />Taylor, Council Member Chris Jones along with several Texas State <br />University students helped with the cleanup in Franklin Square. 7) Donovan <br />Knight thanked everyone involved in the swift water rescue on Friday night. <br />8) Donovan Knight provided the Council with a copy of legislation the <br />Alliance of Student Government adopted on downtown parking issues. 9) <br />Donovan Knight stated this is Bike to School week. 10) Donovan Knight <br />stated this year's Bobcat build was a huge success. He thanked everyone <br />who volunteered. 11) Mr. Guerrero stated he attended the House Committee <br />Hearing on conservation. 12) Mr. Guerrero stated he and his wife were <br />Interviewed by PAL, Jennifer Hayes, of the San Marcos Daily Record. 13) <br />Mr. Guerrero stated he attended the Hays County Heart Walk and encouraged <br />the crowd. 14) Mr. Guerrero stated he also dropped by Spring Fest at San <br />Marcos Falls. 15) Ms. Robertson stated she took part in her first <br />Visioning Workshop, where the Council got to vision the big picture items. <br />She stated the Council received a great presentation from Sean Cranston, <br />Carma Texas. 16) Ms. Robertson stated she attended the Cool Cities <br />Campaign training, which was very helpful. 17) Mr. Jones also thanked <br />everyone for their hard work with Bobcat Build. 18) Mr. Jones thanked City <br />Staff for their participation in the Hays County Heart Walk, which was an <br />outstanding event. 19) Mr. Jones thanked the Mayor and Council for the <br />time they put into the visioning session. 20) Mr. Jones encouraged the <br />community to continue to stay strong and build together on common issues. <br />21) Mayor Narvaiz stated many collaborative efforts have taken place. <br />Unity shows the Mayor and Council are here to serve each other and unity is <br />
