Ms. Couch <br />stated she thanked the Economic Development Board for their request of this <br />Ordinance. She stated as a business owner you look at gaining business not <br />losing business. She stated if San Marcos can get on the playing field, <br />then the City should be excited with what the future has to bring. Mr. <br />Thomaides stated he would like to know what Municipalities offer and have <br />received. Mayor Narvaiz stated San Marcos is one the retail capitals of <br />the world, which is a great starter job, but citizens also need another <br />career choices. She also stated that this year other tax exempt properties <br />will come back on line and taxes have not been raised in five years. She <br />stated this Ordinance is a piece of the puzzle that the City can do to help <br />make the short list for prospects and help keep manufactures. She stated <br />this will allow San Marcos a choice of businesses. On roll call for <br />approval of Ordinance on first reading, the following vote was recorded: <br />AYE: Couch, Bose, Narvaiz, Guerrero, Robertson and Jones. <br />NAY: Thomaides. <br />ABSTAIN: None. <br />Mr. Jones moved to reconsider Item 24, the approval of the Ordinance on <br />first reading, and Ms. Couch seconded the motion. On roll call to <br />reconsider Item 24, the following vote was recorded: <br />AYE: Couch, Narvaiz, Guerrero, Robertson and Jones. <br />NAY: Thomaides and Bose. <br />ABSTAIN: None. <br />Mr. Jones moved to approve Item 24, the approval of the Ordinance on first <br />reading, and Ms. Couch seconded the motion.
