Mr. Diaz stated he feels this sidewalk needs to begin at Grove
Street in front of the Hofmann business and continue in front of the tire
store. Richard Mendoza, Director of Public Works, stated he feels this
would not be feasible. He stated he recognizes this is a potential
project, but the design has already been done. Mr. Thomaides stated he
feels the additional sidewalk could be considered during the CDBG funding.
Mr. Mendoza stated the contract will need to be revised to reflect the
additional cost for the railroad crossing. Mr. Guerrero withdrew his
motion and Mr. Diaz withdrew his second. Mr. Jones moved to table the
Resolution until the next Regular Meeting scheduled for April 18, 2006 and
Mr. Guerrero seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.

Mayor Narvaiz introduced for consideration Item 24, removed from the
consent agenda, approval to accept bids for exchange of a 14-acre tract
located at the intersection of IH35 North and Davis Lane. Mr. Guerrero
moved for approval to accept bids for exchange of a 14-acre tract located
at the intersection of IH35 North and Davis Lane, and Mr. Thomaides
I seconded the motion. Mr. O'Leary stated the Council has discussed inviting
bids for exchange of a 14-acre tract, for a City-owned property located at
the intersection of IH-35 and Davis Lane. He stated this motion will
authorize the City to accept bids for this property. Mr. Mihalkanin stated
he does not support accepting bids for the exchange of a 14-acre tract. He
stated he feels there are other options for this property that would be
more financially beneficial to the City. Mr. Thomaides stated he feels
this piece of property is an assest to the City. He suggested the City
sell the property and use some of the funds to pay for the additional dam
expenses. Mayor Narvaiz stated this is a bid opportunity, and if the
Council does not agree with any of the bids, then the bids can be rejected
and the Council can consider other options.
