<br />37. <br />Regular Meeting <br /> <br />May 2, 2006 <br /> <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced for consideration adoption or direction to Staff <br />on matters discussed in Executive Session. Mr. O'Leary stated the Council I <br />will provide direction after the continuation of Executive Session later in <br />the meeting. <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced the League of Women Voters to lead the Pledge of <br />Allegiance. <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced the Citizen Comment Period. No Citizens signed up <br />to speak. <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced the Staff Report. 1) Mr. O'Leary stated the Rio <br />Vista Dam project is still on the Memorial Day timeline to be completed. <br />2) Mr. O'Leary stated he received an email from Ecuador Dignitaries who <br />visited San Marcos. He stated they wanted to thank Margie Moore for being <br />so helpful. 3) Mr. O'Leary stated Mayor Narvaiz will be making phone calls <br />to legislative members regarding the proposed legislation concerning <br />cities' abilities to regulate certain items, such as natural gas prices. <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced the City Council Reports. 1) Mr. Thomaides stated <br />he was surprised when he read the newspaper headline regarding another San <br />Marcos property being taken off the tax roll. He stated he would like for <br />Council to hold a discussion on the May 16, 2006 City Council Agenda <br />regarding property being taken off the tax roll. 2) Mr. Thomaides stated <br />he participated on a panel discussion about community issues. He stated <br />this was held by the Alpha Sigma Phi Honor Society Forum at Texas State <br />University. He thanked Ashley Harris for inviting him to participate. 3) <br />Mr. Bose stated he had received several phone calls regarding his wife. <br />He stated she had surgery today is doing well. 4) Mr. Bose stated he <br />attended the Impact Regional Rail meeting Tuesday in Austin. He stated <br />several cities are preparing for this rail, which is going to happen. 5) <br />Mr. Bose stated he went by the dam project before the Council Meeting. He <br />stated these workers are starting early and finishing late seven days a <br />week. 5) Mr. Jones stated the Minority Tourism Board is looking at <br />proposals they received, but they have not made decisions on which <br />proposals to fund. 6) Mr. Jones stated he also attended the Impact <br />Regional Rail meeting. He stated several cities are motivated and ready to <br />go. 7) Mr. Jones stated he visited the school district. He thanked Ms. <br />Bryan for allowing him to visit her class. He encouraged the citizens to <br />visit the school district. 8) Mayor Narvaiz stated this week is Public <br />Service Week and she thanked all public employees for the work they do. 9) <br />Mayor Narvaiz thanked Staff for the great job they did during the recent <br />hail storm. 10) Mayor Narvaiz stated the Nature Conservancy is prepared to <br />close on the land deal above Spring Lake Dam before May 15, 2006. 11) <br />Mayor Narvaiz stated she attended the Poder Learning Center ribbon cutting'l <br />which she feels is a great center. 12) Mayor Narvaiz thanked the Alliance <br />of Student Government and the Society of Future Business Leaders for <br /> <br />I <br />
