Mr. O'Leary stated the Council <br />received a prospect update report from a Global Marketeer Group <br />representative. <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced seven San Marcos Electric Utility Department Staff <br />who helped during the Hurricane Rita cleanup to lead the Pledge of <br />Allegiance. A representative of Governor Rick Perry's Office provided the <br />seven SMEU members a message of gratitude from the Governor for their <br />response efforts during Hurricane Rita. <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced the Citizen Comment Period. No Citizens signed up <br />to speak. <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced the Staff Report. 1) Mr. O'Leary stated the <br />Downtown Master Plan Open House will be held on May 31, 2006 from 6 p.m. to <br />8 p.m. at the Activity Center. He stated the City of Georgetown will t <br />attend and provide information about how they worked through their Downtow <br />Master Plan process. 2) Mr. O'Leary stated the Rio Vista Dam re-opening is <br />scheduled for Memorial Day Weekend. He stated the river will be reopened <br />for the public beginning on Friday, May 26, 2006 at 4 p.m. He stated <br />until then trespassers will be dealt with. <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced the City Council Report. 1) Mr. Bose stated he <br />will be attending the Texas Natural and Swing Festival on Friday, and <br />encouraged everyone to attend. 2) Mr. Bose stated he also attended the San <br />Marcos Police Awards Ceremony. He stated the City of San Marcos is <br />fortunate to have such a great force of officers. 3) Mr. Jones stated he <br />attended the Minority Economic Development Board meeting this week. He <br />stated they approved five items. 4) Mr. Thomaides stated he provided <br />copies to the Council of the City of Georgetown's Ordinance which adopted <br />their Land Development Code creating a Commuter Rail District. 5) Mr. <br />Thomaides stated there will be a Commuter Rail meeting on June 2, 2006, at <br />the Activity Center in San Marcos. 6) Mayor Narvaiz congratulated the <br />City employees who received their service awards. 7) Mayor Narvaiz thanked <br />SMCISD for the tour of the new schools. 8) Mayor Narvaiz stated she <br />attended a meeting with TxDOT and the County regarding the County's pass- <br />through toll application. 9) Mayor Narvaiz thanked the Education <br />Foundation, Donna Hill & Time Warner Cable for organizing the Teachers I <br />Appreciation Banquet and for honoring the top Graduating Seniors. 10) <br />Mayor Narvaiz stated she attended Cinco de Mayo, which was a great event. <br />She thanked LULAC for their hard work. 11) Mayor Narvaiz stated she <br />
