<br />Regular Meeting <br /> <br />June 20, 2006 <br /> <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced the City Council Report. 1) Mr. Thomaides thanked <br />the Noon Lions Club for inviting him to speak regarding transportation and I <br />City issues. 2) Mr. Thomaides encouraged the citizens of San Marcos to <br />continue to pick up the litter at the Rio Vista Dam area. 3) Mr. Guerrero <br />thanked the San Marcos Fire Department for helping with the 30 Sunshine <br />Kids who floated the San Marcos River. 4) Mr. Mihalkanin thanked the <br />Juneteenth Celebration Committee for allowing him to judge the cake bake <br />contest, which was a lot of fun. 4) Mr. Bose also thanked the Juneteenth <br />Celebration committee for allowing him to judge the cobbler contest. 5) <br />Mr. Jones thanked everyone who participated in the Juneteenth Celebration. <br />6) Mr. Jones stated Mother's Against Drunk Drivers will soon be closing <br />their local office. He stated if anyone is concerned with this move, <br />please call 1-800-GET-MADD. 7) Mr. Jones stated he attended a day seminar <br />regarding law enforcement. He stated the San Marcos Police Department is <br />ahead of the game. 8) Mr. Jones stated his office has new summer hours <br />which consist of Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, <br />and Tuesday and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. 9) Mr. Jones stated <br />he is currently working with the University regarding the Maroon and Gold <br />Bike Program. 10) Mr. Jones stated he is also working with the University <br />on the first Good Neighbor Program, which should take place later this <br />summer. 11) Mayor Narvaiz stated on June 10 she welcomed everyone who <br />attended the Greenspace Corridor Workshop. 12) Mayor Narvaiz stated on <br />June 16 she attended the Summer Math Camp held at Hernandez Intermediate <br />and she attended the Chamber of Commerce Bowling Event. 13) Mayor Narvaiz I <br />stated on June 17 she was a BBQ Judge at the Juneteenth Celebration. She <br />stated she felt the Juneteenth Celebration was very successful. 14) Mayor <br />Narvaiz stated on June 20 she held a special meeting with the Clergy. She <br />stated she asked the Clergy to speak to their congregations regarding the <br />City's need for help to take care of the Parks and the Rio Vista Dam area. <br />15) Mayor Narvaiz stated on Wednesday, June 21, 2006, the City will host a <br />Community Celebration at the Rio Vista Dam area. She stated there will be <br />a tree dedication for Ivar Gunnarson. 14) Mr. Guerrero stated he also <br />wanted to thank the San Marcos Parks Department for their help with the <br />Sunshine Kids visit to San Marcos. <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced for consideration approval of minutes of the <br />Regular Meeting held June 6, 2006, approval of one Ordinance on second <br />reading, adoption of two Ordinances on third and final reading, adoption of <br />thirteen Resolutions, and approval for use of General Fund Contingency <br />Funds in the amount of $30,170.00 for Park Rangers and litter control, on <br />consent. The City Council removed Item 10, adoption of an Ordinance on <br />third on final reading, Items 11, 13, 14, 15, 17, and 23, adoption of <br />Resolutions, and Item 24, approval for use of General Fund Contingency <br />Funds in the amount of $30,170.00 for Park Rangers and litter control, to <br />be considered separately. Mr. Mihalkanin moved for approval of minutes of I <br />the Regular Meeting held June 6, 2006, approval of one Ordinance on second <br />reading, adoption of one Ordinance on third and final reading, and adoption <br />of the remaining seven Resolutions, on consent, and Mr. Thomaides seconded <br />
