Regular Meeting October 16, 2007 Page 2 <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced for consideration adoption or direction to Staff <br />on matters discussed in Executive Session. Mr. O'Leary stated the City <br />Council received an update and gave directions regarding the evaluation of <br />the Municipal Judge. He stated the Council also received a Business <br />Prospect Update on Rich Project and SAVE Project and provided direction. <br />He also stated Council will continue the remaining Executive Session items <br />after the Regular Meeting. <br />Pastor Mike Schlemgen of the Solid Rock Church lead the Invocation. <br />Mayor Narvaiz lead the Pledge of Allegiance. <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced the Citizen Comment Period. 1) Joe Ptak, owner of <br />Planet K, invited citizens and Council to the grand opening of Planet K on <br />Thursday, November Vt. 2) Scott Swinney thanked the Council and Lisa <br />Dvorak for their efforts with the Sagewood and Hughson Heights <br />neighborhoods. He stated there are rumors of a large party for Halloween. <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced the Staff Report. Mr. O'Leary stated he did not <br />have a report at this time. <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced the City Council Reports. 1) Ms. Robertson stated <br />she attended the reading of Common Experience, which was held at the San <br />Marcos Library. She also invited people to attend the Energy Efficiency <br />Workshop on Monday, October 20th and the State of the City on Wednesday, <br />October 17th. 2) Mr. Jones stated October is Preacher's Appreciation Month <br />and Sunday he attended an appreciation. He thanked the clergy for time <br />spent helping others in our community. He stated he also attended the <br />Grand Opening of Pedal Power. 3) Mr. Guerrero stated he did the welcome <br />during Texas State Family Round -Up in Sewell Park on behalf of the Mayor. <br />He also announced October 20th is the Rattler Round Up. 4) Mr. Thomaides <br />stated he also attended the Common Experience at the Library. There where a <br />lot of great pictures and older residents spoke about their experiences. <br />He also attended the Blogtoberfest and Geek -Out event on Friday, October <br />12th. He also thanked Scott Gregson for putting together a broadcast with <br />Phyllis Hunt and himself to sell the benefits of attracting the creative <br />class. He stated he also received several citizen requests for help on <br />Halloween from our Police Department. He also encouraged citizens to slow <br />down and watch for trick -or- treaters. 5) Ms. Couch stated there were many <br />Proclamations read tonight, which she thanked everyone who volunteered. <br />She also encouraged everyone to volunteer. 6) Mr. Bose stated he provided <br />the opening remarks at Blogtoberfest on October 12th. He stated these <br />individuals are creative and interested in coming to San Marcos. He stated <br />LULAC invited him to be a Judge at Hill Country BBQ Cook Off, which raised <br />allot of scholarship money. Mr. Bose also attended the Common Experience. <br />He stated we are richly blessed to live in this unique place. 7) Mayor <br />Narvaiz congratulated Central Texas Medical Center on a successful Gala. <br />She hosted 12 board members and gave them a tour, which is development <br />opportunity for San Marcos.
