Regular Meeting October 16, 2007 Page 2 Mayor Narvaiz introduced for consideration adoption or direction to Staff on matters discussed in Executive Session. Mr. O'Leary stated the City Council received an update and gave directions regarding the evaluation of the Municipal Judge. He stated the Council also received a Business Prospect Update on Rich Project and SAVE Project and provided direction. He also stated Council will continue the remaining Executive Session items after the Regular Meeting. Pastor Mike Schlemgen of the Solid Rock Church lead the Invocation. Mayor Narvaiz lead the Pledge of Allegiance. Mayor Narvaiz introduced the Citizen Comment Period. 1) Joe Ptak, owner of Planet K, invited citizens and Council to the grand opening of Planet K on Thursday, November Vt. 2) Scott Swinney thanked the Council and Lisa Dvorak for their efforts with the Sagewood and Hughson Heights neighborhoods. He stated there are rumors of a large party for Halloween. Mayor Narvaiz introduced the Staff Report. Mr. O'Leary stated he did not have a report at this time. Mayor Narvaiz introduced the City Council Reports. 1) Ms. Robertson stated she attended the reading of Common Experience, which was held at the San Marcos Library. She also invited people to attend the Energy Efficiency Workshop on Monday, October 20th and the State of the City on Wednesday, October 17th. 2) Mr. Jones stated October is Preacher's Appreciation Month and Sunday he attended an appreciation. He thanked the clergy for time spent helping others in our community. He stated he also attended the Grand Opening of Pedal Power. 3) Mr. Guerrero stated he did the welcome during Texas State Family Round -Up in Sewell Park on behalf of the Mayor. He also announced October 20th is the Rattler Round Up. 4) Mr. Thomaides stated he also attended the Common Experience at the Library. There where a lot of great pictures and older residents spoke about their experiences. He also attended the Blogtoberfest and Geek -Out event on Friday, October 12th. He also thanked Scott Gregson for putting together a broadcast with Phyllis Hunt and himself to sell the benefits of attracting the creative class. He stated he also received several citizen requests for help on Halloween from our Police Department. He also encouraged citizens to slow down and watch for trick -or- treaters. 5) Ms. Couch stated there were many Proclamations read tonight, which she thanked everyone who volunteered. She also encouraged everyone to volunteer. 6) Mr. Bose stated he provided the opening remarks at Blogtoberfest on October 12th. He stated these individuals are creative and interested in coming to San Marcos. He stated LULAC invited him to be a Judge at Hill Country BBQ Cook Off, which raised allot of scholarship money. Mr. Bose also attended the Common Experience. He stated we are richly blessed to live in this unique place. 7) Mayor Narvaiz congratulated Central Texas Medical Center on a successful Gala.
