<br />(c) The tax shall not apply to a person who has a right to use or possess a room in a I <br />hotel for at least 30 consecutive days, so long as there is no interruption of <br />payment for the period. <br />(d) The tax imposed by this section shall be collected by the person who owns, <br />operates, manages, or controls the hotel in which the room for which the tax is <br />imposed is located. <br /> <br />SECTION 2. If any portion of this Ordinance is held invalid by a court of competent <br />jurisdiction, the remaining provisions of this Ordinance shall remain in full force and effect. <br /> <br />SECTION 3. The increase in the hotel occupancy tax from seven percent to nine percent <br />of the price paid for a room shall take effect on January I, 2008. <br /> <br />SECTION 4.
