3

9.

The two entrances to the cemetery were patched-up.

They were in terrible disrepair.

The commission was

not pleased with the patch work, but it was an

improvement over the dangerous wash.

Not long after this work, a citizen complained of the

danger which still existed, and - behold - two

beautifully constructed, safe culverts replaced the

old ones.

These entran'ces were widened, as well as,

the horse-shoe entrance road up to the gates of the

cemetery, and all of this area was black-topped.

This repair and improvement was accomplished by a citizen.

I wish the commission could take credit for having gone through

proper channels, and presented expectations of the citizens to

the staff and achieved this repair.

The citizen was smart to by-

pass the commission because the commission seems unable to get

proper funding for any improvements.

The following are the commission's recommendations for

repairs and capital improvements.

1.

Two miles of pavement are badly needed.

On rainy days

the roads are easily turned into ruts and cars leave

the cemetery mud-splashed.

2.

The entire barbed-wire fence, which is against the law,

needs to be replaced.

Not all of the boundary is

fenced.

The chain link fence at the entrance of

cemetery was purchased by the San ~arcos Cemetery

Association.
