<br />7 <br /> <br />whose graves are marked. <br /> <br />This data has been compiled and sent <br /> <br />to the Texas State Historical Survey Committee for the State <br /> <br />Archives. <br /> <br />Also buried in the local Cemetery are 13 Spanish <br /> <br />American War veterans and about 260 veterans of World Wars r <br /> <br />and II, some having served in both. <br /> <br />Sidney Smith, a casualty <br /> <br />of the Korean conflict, is buried in the Cemetery. <br /> <br />Two of the <br /> <br />casualties of the Vietnam conflict are buried in the San Marcos <br /> <br />Cemetery: <br /> <br />ESP4 Vicente Gonzalez and Lance Corporal Richard <br /> <br />Lopez. <br /> <br />Three officers of the British Royal Air Force, one, only <br /> <br />19 years old, are buried in the Cemetery. <br /> <br />They lost their <br /> <br />lives while stationed at the San ~arcos Airforce Base, in 1953. <br /> <br />The early families are well represented in the Cemetery. <br /> <br />The William Lindsay lot is marked by a tall marble shaft, with <br /> <br />stones marking 12 graves. <br /> <br />Col. P.C. Woods of Woods Regiment, <br /> <br />CSA, and an early doctor in San Marcos, is buried near the <br /> <br />Tabernacle, with six generations of his family. <br /> <br />Across the <br /> <br />driveway is the family plot of Maj. W.O. Hutchison of Woods <br /> <br />Regiment. <br /> <br />Nearby is the plot of Capt. James G. Storey, also of <br /> <br />Woods Regiment. <br /> <br />To the right of the Tabernacle is the large ~cGehee family <br /> <br />plot. <br /> <br />Thomas G. McGehee came to what is now Hays County in <br /> <br />December, 1946~ some six generations of his family are buried <br /> <br />there. <br /> <br />There are other families represented by six generations <br /> <br />or more. <br />
