Mr. Kvanli stated the City is responsible for installing the poles and his team is responsible for installing the wires. Mayor Narvaiz stated this agreement is for one year, because this is a new area for the City and one year will allow Staff to learn more. Mr. Jones inquired to whether there would be a charge to the City for installing the poles and cleaning up after the events. Mr. Cobb stated the Park Advisory Board did not set a fee, they felt the minimum charges would be taken care of with the tax dollars this group will bring to San Marcos. Mr. Bose inquired to the size of these events. Mr. Cobb stated most of these events have 20 slalom entries and 15 teams of kayaker polo, which is about 120 people. The Council then voted unanimously for adoption of Resolution. Mayor Narvaiz introduced adoption of Ordinance on emergency, the caption which was read as follows: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS AMENDING SECTION 78.102 OF THE SAN MARCOS CITY CODE TO INCREASE THE HOTEL OCCUPANCY TAX FROM SEVEN PERCENT TO NINE PERCENT OF THE PRICE PAID FOR A ROOM, EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2008; PROVIDING THAT REVENUE COLLECTED FROM THE TWO PERCENT INCREASE IN THE HOTEL OCCUPANCY TAX RATE SHALL BE DEPOSITED INTO THE SAN MARCOS CONFERENCE CENTER VENUE PROJECT FUND; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
