RESOLUTION NO. 2015 -27R <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS <br />SUPPORTING THE ADOPTION OF LEGISLATION TO AMEND SECTION 351.101(A) <br />OF THE TEXAS TAX CODE TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS TO USE <br />A PORTION OF THE CITY'S HOTEL OCCUPANCY TAX PROCEEDS TO PROMOTE <br />TOURISM BY UPGRADING CITY -OWNED SPORTS FACILITIES INCLUDING <br />BASEBALL, SOFTBALL, SOCCER AND FLAG FOOTBALL FACILITIES AND <br />FIELDS; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS: <br />PART 1. The City of San Marcos supports the adoption of legislation to amend <br />Section 351.101 of the Texas Tax Code to allow the city to use a portion of the city's hotel <br />occupancy tax proceeds to upgrade city -owned sports facilities including baseball, softball, <br />soccer, and flag football facilities and fields. <br />PART 2. The City Council respectfully requests Senator Judith Zaffirini and <br />Representative Jason Isaac to introduce bills in substantially the same form as attached in Exhibit <br />"A" in order to achieve the purpose set forth in Part I of this resolution. <br />PART 3. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect immediately from and <br />after its passage. <br />ADOPTED on March 3, 2015. <br />f.
