<br />79 <br /> <br />Regular Meeting <br /> <br />April 13, J.987 <br /> <br />Pag~: 10 <br /> <br />Mayor Younger introduced for consideration adoption of a Resolution, <br />the caption which was read as follows: <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />£.~ARCOS, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING AND APPROVING A CHANGE <br />ORDER TO THE CONTRACT FOR CONSTRUCTION OF THE SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS PUBLIC WORKS COMPLEX RELATING TO PIERS; <br />PROVIDING THAT THE COMPENSATION AND PRICE FOR ADDI- <br />TIONAL WORK IS SUBJECT TO APPROVAL BY THE CITY COUNCIL; <br />AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />Mr. Guerra moved for adoption of the Resolution and Ms. Kissler seconded <br />the motion. Jeff Kester advised the Council shallower piers were being <br />used for the administration and public works building as it is not sup- <br />porting thres floors. This Resolution is to raise the pier bottom <br />above the water table to approximately 12 feet. They will increase <br />the diameter of t:he pier shafts 3 and 1. They drilled a test hole to <br />find the water level, which is fairly uniformly at 13 feet. They will <br />put straight shafts in instead of bell shafts, and the cost will have <br />a cap of $5,000.00. The Council voted unanimously for adoption of <br />the Resolution. <br /> <br />Mayor Younger introduced for consideration approval of appointment of <br />Special Judge to preside over Case Nœ. 87-3363 and 87-3568 in the <br />Municipal Court of the City of San Marcos, Texas (Agenda Items 13.A. <br />and 13.B.). Mayor Younger moved to table these matters to the April <br />27 meeting, but there was no second. Mr. Farr moved to appolnt Michael <br />Grazier as the Special Judge for both of these cases and Mr. Brown se- <br />conded the motion. On roll call the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: <br /> <br />Brown, Farr, Guerra, Kissler; Nicola. <br /> <br />NAY: <br /> <br />Younger. <br /> <br />ABSTAIN: <br /> <br />None. <br /> <br />(Mr. Coddington ~efused to vote on this matter). <br /> <br />Mayor Younger introduced for consideration approval to temporarily close <br />the 100 Block of San Antonio Street on the South side of Courthouse <br />Square on April 30,1987 from 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. in conjunction <br />with Cinco de Mayo. Ms. Kissler moved for approval and Mr. Farr se- <br />conded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Mayor Younger introduced for consideration approval of a change order <br />for Mill Street area improvements Change Order Number 7 in the amount <br />of $32,719.05. Ms. Kissler moved for approval of the change order <br />and Mr. Guerra seconded the motion. Mayor Youngør asked what recourse <br />the City has for Freese and Nichols' error. Mr. Gonzalez advised Mayor <br />Younger they had not made an error but had only estimated what ~he amount <br />would be. Mr. Parr requested Staff look at what is equitable/inequitablp re: <br />apron approaches to driveways and was advised the area in question was <br />connected with a different project, Millview rather ~han Mill Street. <br />On roll call the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: <br /> <br />Brown, Farr, Gue~cra, Kissler, Nicola. <br /> <br />NAY: <br /> <br />Coddington, Younger. <br /> <br />ABSTAIN: <br /> <br />None. <br />
