<br />53 <br /> <br />Regular Meeting <br /> <br />February 23, 1987 <br /> <br />Page 12 <br /> <br />Mayor Younger introduced a Mayor's discussion item of having ex-officio <br />membprs on thE;: Planning Commission. Mayor Younger stated he thought <br />the Council should review the makeup of the Commission's members, and <br />to consider the inclusion of ex-officio members who reside in the <br />City's extraterritorial jurisdiction. Mr. Coddington stated he is <br />in favor of two or one member(s) from the ETJ but that they be voting <br />members. Mayor Younger stated he would like to see the ex-officio <br />memb(::rs be allowed to vote on matters concerning the ETJ. Mr. Hankins <br />advised the Council the Planning Commission is set up by Charter and <br />that a Charter Amendment would be necessary to change the makeup of <br />the Board. Mr. Guerra stated he would like to have the Charter Review <br />Commission look at this as a possibility. Aart Millecam, Chairman of <br />the Planning Commission, stated he is in favor of having ex-officio <br />members in order to facilitate closer cooperation with the County on <br />issues. Ms. Kissler stated she is in favor of the Charter Review Com- <br />mission looking at this issue when they meet. <br /> <br />Mr. Brown moved the Council adjourn into Executive Session pursuant to <br />Article 6252-17, §§2(e) and (g), V.A.C.S., to discuss matters where the <br />duties of the City Attorney to the City pursuant to the Code of Profes- <br />sional Responsibility of the State Bar of Texas clearly conf~icts with <br />Article 6252-17; employment of a public officer or employee (Municipal <br />Court Judges), respectively, and Mr. Guerra seconded the motion, which <br />passed unanimously (9:57 p.m.). <br /> <br />Mayor Younger moved the Council reconvene at II:O5 p.m. and Mr. Farr <br />seconded the motion, which passed unanimously (Mr. Coddington not pre- <br />sent to vote on this item). <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />--- <br /> <br />.I <br /> <br />Betty Jane Kissler <br />Mayor Pro-Tern <br /> <br />ATTE~ f%n-~ <br /> <br />~iS K.
