Hankins <br />Larry Gilley <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />Melissa Millecam. <br /> <br />Mayor Younger called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. <br /> <br />The City Council canvassed the returns of the <br />August 8, 1987. The Council Members reviewed <br />Central Counting Station and read the results <br />the record for each Precinct, said tabulation <br />ing Ordinance. <br /> <br />Special Election held <br />the returns from the <br />of the tabulation into <br />attached to the follow- <br /> <br />Mayor Younger introduced for consideration adoption of an Ordinance <br />on emergency, the caption which was read as follows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS, CANVASSING RETURNS AND DECLARING RE- <br />SULTS OF THE JOINT CITY AND COUNTY SPECIAL ELECTION <br />HELD ON AUGUST 8, 1987 FOR THE PURPOSE OF CONSIDERING <br />THE ADOPTION OF AN ADDITIONAL ONE-HALF OF ONE PERCENT <br />(1/2%) LOCAL SALES AND USE TAX WITHIN THE CITY TO RE- <br />DUCE THE PROPERTY TAX RATE, AND SAID JOINT SPECIAL <br />ELECTION TO BE HELD WITHIN AND WITHOUT THE CORPORATE <br />LIMITS OF SAID CITY FOR THE PURPOSE OF CONSIDERING <br />THE ADOPTION OF AN ADDITIONAL ONE-HALF OF ONE PERCENT <br />(1/2%) LOÇAL SALES AND USE TAX WITHIN THE COUNTY TO <br />REDUCE THE PROPERTY TAX RATE, AND DECLARING AN EMER- <br />GENCY. <br /> <br />Ms. Kissler ~oved for adoption of the Ordinance on emergency and Mayor <br />Younger seconded the motion. Mr. Brown moved to amend the Ordinance <br />in the fifth paragraph beginning with "WHEREAS" to list the members <br />present and in SECTION 3 to delete the word "rejected" to reflect <br />the proposition was "approved" and to add the number of votes cast <br />"For" as being 628 and "Against" as being 159, and Mr. Hernandez <br />seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. The Council then <br />voted unanimously for adoption of the Ordinance on emergency. <br /> <br />The meeting adjourned at 5:42 p.m. on motion made by Mr. Nicola and <br />seconded by Ms. Kissler. \ <br /> <br />\ ,¡ <br />" \ \, " " <br />'..,-,..\t~:.). , .'
