73 Regular Meeting September 27, 1993 Page 3 Mayor Morris introduced for consideration a public hearing and adoption of a Zoning Ordinance, the caption which was read as follows: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING THE OFFICIAL ZONING MAP OF THE CITY BY REZONING AN 8.8526 ACRE TRACT OF LAND OUT OF THE J. M. VERAMENDI LEAGUE NUMBER 2, IN HAYS COUNTY, TEXAS, LOCATED AT 1005 RIVER ROAD, FROM "R-1" (SINGLE-FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT [LOW DENSITY]) TO "MH" (MOBILE HOME DISTRICT) AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. Mayor Morris opened the public hearing and asked if anyone wished to speak for or against the zoning change. No one did, so Mayor Morris closed the public hearing. Mr. Moore moved for adoption of the Zoning ordi~~nce and Mr. Mooney seconded the motion. The Council asked Ron Patterson about enforcement of unkept areas. Mr. Patterson advised the Council Staff is working on maintenance items with the park owner through the Health Department and Building Inspections. The Council voted unanimously for adoption of the Zoning Ordinance. Mayor Morris introduced for consideration a public hearing and adoption of a Zoning Ordinance, the caption which was read as follows: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING THE OFFICIAL ZONING MAP OF THE CITY BY REZONING 0.342 ACRES, MORE OR LESS, OF LAND AREA BEING ALL OF LOT 4, BLOCK 2, AND THE APPROXIMATE SOUTHWEST ONE-HALF OF LOT 1, BLOCK 4 OF THE FOURTH REVISION OF FOREST HILL AND COLLEGE HEIGHTS ADDITIONS IN HAYS COUNTY, TEXAS, LOCATED AT 1011 BLUEBONNET DRIVE, FROM "R-1" (SINGLE-FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT [LOW DENSITY]) TO "DP-1" (TWO-FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT [LOW DENSITY]) AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. Mayor Morris opened the public hearing and asked if anyone wished to speak for or against the zoning change. No one did, so Mayor Morris closed the public hearing. Mr. Moore moved for adoption of the Zoning Ordinance and Mr. Plummer seconded the motion. The Zoning commission denied approval of the zoning request, which would require six votes of approval of the City Council for the zoning to be approved. On roll call the following vote was recorded: AYE: Moore, Morris, Plummer. NAY: Mooney, Hart, Guerra, Cox. ABSTAIN: None. The motion failed. TEXAS, AMENDING THE OFFICIAL ZONING MAP OF THE CITY BY REZONING LOT 29, BLOCK 2 OF THE WESTOVER ADDITION TO THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, AS RECORDED IN VOLUME 59, PAGE 184 OF THE HAYS COUNTY DEED RECORDS, LOCATED AT 1400 CLYDE STREET, FROM "M" (SINGLE-FAMILY DUPLEX AND NEIGHBORHOOD BUSINESS DISTRICT) TO "DP-2" (TWO-FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT [MEDIUM DENSITY]) AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. Mayor Morris opened the public hearing and asked if anyone wished to speak for or against the zoning change. No one did, so Mayor Morris closed the public hearing. Mr. Plummer moved for adoption of the Zoning Ordinance and Mr. Hart seconded the motion. Mr. Cox stated the Master Plan shows the area to be low density, and Mr. Patterson stated there is some trend in density increase in the area, but this is not considered spot zoning. The Council voted unanimously for adoption of the Zoning Ordinance.
